Tran Tran in Richmond

Today Richmond celebrated Chinese New Year and my friend and I decided to check it out. Victoria Street was partially closed and it felt like I was in Vietnam, I never knew there was a big Vietnamese community here. The street was lined with Vietnamese restaurants and food stalls with crowds of people wandering around in awe. I loved the atmosphere and buzz of excitement in where to choose to eat. My friend decided on a modern restaurant called Tran Tran specialising in authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant had a great vibe and the interior was decorated in black and white, which gave it a clean cut look.

The selection on the menu was great and full of traditional Vietnamese dishes. I ordered battered duck with plum sauce and my friend had squid with vegetables. The food was delicious and when it was served on the table the smell was enough make me salivate. My battered duck dish was served on a bed of white crispy noodles which complimented the dish and the duck had a lovely crispy skin texture to it which didn't get to soggy in the sweet plum sauce. The squid was cooked perfectly, it wasn't chewy in the slightest and was very tender. The whole meal was great and was washed down with Chinese tea in true Oriental style. Perfect end to a perfect meal.
