Masala Zone

A friend introduced me to Masala Zone in Covent Gardens, upon entering the restaurant the ceiling was decorated beautifully with puppets. You could smell the different spices flowing from the kitchen as soon as you walked in the door.

The menu is clear and simple, I was recommended The Grand Thali, which is a starter and main course combined served on a large steel dish with little bowls of curry, rice and yoghurt. The Grand Thali included a choice of curry, two vegetables, dal (lentils) raita (yoghurt), Indian salad, papadum, chutney, chapatti and rice. For around £12, this was a bargain and delicious, I could see why this was a popular place for a taste of India. Each dish tasted different and had a different level of spice, I'm not usually good with spicy food but the yoghurt helped me neutralise the spicy taste. I love getting my hands dirty when I eat and here was no exception. The waiters were also helpful in assisting us with our meal choices. I really enjoyed my meal here and would recommend it to anyone who craves authentic Indian food, Masala Zone is far from what you would get in a takeaway.
